Support the Sutter Buttes Chapter with a Cash Donation
President's Message
Wow what a year, I am so proud to be a part of your Sutter Buttes SCI Chapter. As a Chapter we are working on so many fronts locally to support you our members, and area residents. Projects including ongoing use of our Mobile Wildlife Education Center “Sensory Safari Unit”. Our mobile education unit has been provided to over four local area events in the last three months. With commitments to Farm Bureau Farm Days in October, Field Of Dreams in September, and a special request to display at the National SCI Convention in Reno Nevada in January, it is safe to say this project is a winner. Youth hunter Education classes, and hunts, Sportsmen against Hunger Donations, Political action requests including a recent contribution to the Alaska Ballet initiative which Alaska just won !!!!, could we do more ? YES, What about the Safari Wish Program ?, we have been involved in over three Safari Wish projects to date, and are reviewing two additional requests. Our first wish was for Mr Rylee Muonio, a 14 year old from Washington State that requested a Whitetail hunt in Texas, please read in our Humanitarian section a short story about Rylee's safari Wish. Our second was a contribution to the Minnesota chapter for a Safari Wish for an 11 year young lady from Bristol Virginia, who will be hunting over Thanksgiving for whitetail. And finally our local area Safari Wish for Mr. Dan Mescher Jr. Dan 's wish was to hunt for North American Elk somewhere in the Western States, possibly with his father joining him.

Mr. Ed Shields of “Deer Valley Ranch” in Saskatchewan, Canada stepped up to the plate in a big way, donating a fully guided elk hunt for Dan Jr, and than threw in an additional trophy hunt for Dan's son to join him on his dream hunt. With that phenomenal contribution our chapter felt that to make this hunt one to be remembered the Sutter Buttes Chapter, and chapters from across the United States including, the Phoenix, Alaska Keni, Napa Valley, Adirondack, Northwoods and CT Chapter, along with National Safari Club International and Sixteen personal local area friends all came together and added a bull for Dan Sr, making this a three generation hunt. Included were all travel needs, lodging, a rifle, gun case, and clothing. Than to top it off Steve Stassi, and Brent Nobles threw in the Taxidermy !!!!!. and Ed Shields threw in a film crew, Thats right this one will be on TV. I will keep all up to date on viewing dates and times when I get them, and will have photos on the web site www.scisb.com as soon as I sort through the many photos and pick the best.
If all the above is not enough, our chapter's Second Annual Dinner Auction was a huge success, with over 200 attendees enjoying an evening of great food, and a time to catch up with old friends and meet new friends. We were able to refill our project account. Plans for the future include, more Junior hunts, along with a Medically Challenged Hunter hunt, Kids Camp, Youth Education seminars, Safari Wishes, and many other valuable projects protecting your rights, preserving wildlife habitat, and working in areas of Wildlife Conservation where we feel most threatened. From myself and the Board we applaud you our members and friends for all of your support.
